Derrik F. Woodbury has been a licensed physician for 42 years. His writing has contributed to scientific medical journals as well as his favorite topic of medical education. In the early 1980’s he was asked to do educational topics on television and became one of the first health reporters in the United States. For his reporting, he won an Associated Press award and was nominated for New England Emmys. His article - “An Untimely Frost” - on the death of his young wife to ovarian cancer won second place in the Sunday Newspaper Supplement national competition for the year 1995.
Dr. Woodbury has climbed the highest mountains on five continents and his documentaries have appeared on CBS and ESPN. He wrote, directed and produced a feature 35mm film which was shown at Sundance, Cannes and the New York Film Festival.
He received his M.D. from Dartmouth Medical School and his surgical training from Georgetown, Dartmouth and the University of Pennsylvania. He has two children and lives in Arizona and Connecticut.
