A fun read October 18, 2019

And received a medical tutorial! I also recommend Dr. Woodbury's other book.....Pawns of the Wall. I'm looking forward to what's next.

Ripped from the Headlines May be a Cliche- But It's True for this Novel September 8, 2019

I'm not much of a reader, but as a part-time rancher in Santa Cruz County of southern Arizona the idea of a story set in my backyard, Patagonia, AZ/ the US-Mexico border, was intriguing. The border and immigration have always been issues here, but even more acutely in recent months. To have a love story, a multilevel one at that, amidst this backdrop was irresistible.

Thought-provoking, relevant, and engaging September 6, 2019

I found this book very apropos amidst the social and political issues surrounding us today! It offers different angles and perspectives regarding the same while simultaneously warming our hearts with a sweet love story! Derrik Woodbury has a way with words that leaves you craving more...perhaps a sequel?!

A Very Good First Book August 26, 2019

This is Dr. Woodbury's first thriller/love story, which is why I call it his first book. It's a very engaging story of a burned-out doctor discovering himself along the southern Arizona border. As one who lives in this area, I think he provides a nice sense of place and a nuanced presentation of the complex border issues that are usually lost in our national debates. Perhaps more importantly to many readers, it's loaded with...Read More

Engrossing story and very timely August 16, 2019

I really enjoyed reading this book - great for Summer. Be warned that the book is centered around a topic on which most people will have a strong view - America's current immigration policy at the US-Mexico border.

The novel is equal parts thriller and love story and unfolds around three main characters who have a complicated, intertwined relationships to one another, and a government-sponsored attack perpetrated...Read More

Good Read On a Controversial Subject July 19, 2019

I'm about 1/3 through. Engrossing story, strong character development, inherent interest in a politically sensitive part of the country. Setting: Patagonia, my favorite small AZ town. Needed a little editing, a couple of minor factual errors which wouldn't matter if you don't live in S Arizona.
